Business Central fit-gap and solution design

Solution design turns the requirements into a Business Central design: what standard Business Central covers, what needs configuration, and what needs an extension or a third-party app. superglue's agent drafts the fit-gap from the requirements and reads the client's Business Central account, so the design matches the edition and the features the client actually has.

How this step works

What the agent does

  • Drafts a fit-gap matrix that marks each requirement as standard, configuration, extension or workaround.
  • Reads the client's Business Central account for the edition, the enabled features and the existing setup.
  • Drafts the design document: structure, master data, processes, approvals and integrations.
  • Flags the gaps that change scope or cost, so you raise them before the build.

What you decide and approve

  • How each gap is closed.
  • Which extensions and third-party apps the client buys.
  • When the client signs the design.

What the client gets

  • A fit-gap matrix in Excel.
  • A solution design document to sign.

Key Business Central design decisions

  1. 01

Close gaps with standard features first

Try standard Business Central, then an AppSource app, then a per-tenant extension. Each per-tenant extension must stay compatible with the monthly updates and the two major updates each year.

  2. 02

    Use companies for legal entities

A legal entity with its own books usually becomes a company. Divisions and cost centers inside one legal entity usually become dimension values.

  3. 03

    Choose the localization per environment

The country or region of an environment is set when it is created and cannot change. Companies in different countries need environments with the matching localization.

  4. 04

Design the approval matrix with the client

Record who approves which documents and up to which amount. Approval User Setup holds the approvers and the amount limits that the approval workflows use.

What are the key Business Central design decisions?

Close gaps with standard features first; Use companies for legal entities; Choose the localization per environment; Design the approval matrix with the client. The agent drafts the fit-gap, and you decide how each gap closes.

How does superglue work with our consultants?

superglue works alongside your team. The agent takes on the repetitive work, such as reading documents, drafting, mapping, loading and reconciling. Your consultants keep the client relationship and the decisions, and they approve every change to a client system.

Can we use our own implementation method?

Yes. Write your firm's method as a playbook, and every consultant and every session follows it. The documents the agent produces carry your firm's branding.

Which systems can we migrate from into Business Central?

Common sources are Microsoft Dynamics GP, Dynamics NAV, QuickBooks, Sage 50 and spreadsheets. The agent also reads Excel, CSV and XML exports and most systems with an API or a database.

Is client data safe?

superglue holds a SOC 2 Type 2 report and works under GDPR. Credentials are encrypted with AES-256. On the Enterprise plan, superglue can run on your own infrastructure.

How do we start?

Start with one live Business Central project. Connect the client's systems, give the agent the statement of work, and run the first steps together with us.
