Business Central discovery and requirements

Discovery workshops decide what the client needs from Business Central. The answers end up spread across call notes, emails, chat threads and the sales team's memory, and some get lost between pre-sales and delivery. superglue's agent reads all of them and keeps one list of requirements, with the source and the decision behind each item.

How this step works

What the agent does

  • Reads workshop transcripts from your notetaker, and the email, Slack or Teams threads and documents of the project.
  • Writes the requirements per business process, with the source and the person who stated each one.
  • Lists open questions and conflicting statements for the next workshop.
  • Keeps a decision log that design, testing and your colleagues reuse.

What you decide and approve

  • Which requirements are in scope.
  • The priority of each requirement.
  • When the requirements go to the client for sign-off.

What the client gets

  • A requirements document per business process.
  • A decision log with the source of each decision.

What to get out of Business Central discovery workshops

  1. 01

Walk the standard process in a sandbox

Show each process in a Business Central sandbox with demo data during the workshop. Gaps found against real pages are concrete and easy to decide.

  2. 02

Ask early if the client needs Premium

Manufacturing and Service Management need the Premium license. Essentials users cannot sign in to a company set to the Premium experience, so the answer changes the license for every user in that company.

  3. 03

Capture costing and warehouse needs per item

Ask how each item group is costed and how goods are picked and shipped. The costing method and the warehouse settings on a location are hard to change after the first postings.

  4. 04

Collect every document the client sends

Invoices, statements, checks, remittances, bank files and e-invoices each need a layout or a format in Business Central. List them with a sample of each.
